Mortgage Banking

Gordon & Associates has extensive experience in the compliance and operational issues applicable to the businesses of mortgage banking and mortgage brokerage, particularly at the federal level. The firm provides assistance and counsel with respect to the relationships and agreements these entities have with warehouse lenders and institutional purchasers of mortgages and regulators. Legal services are also provided on the internal legal issues of these companies such as with management and loan officers.

The mortgage banking industry is adapting to the extensive federal law changes as a result Dodd-Frank and the numerous regulations in process from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Gordon & Associates is actively involved in Washington D.C. with the mortgage industry and related trade associations in shaping their responses to this new legal environment. This allows the firm to provide key insights to its clients that are not easily available to most law firms.

The firm also provides advice and negotiation services for mortgage banking clients who are subject to significant mortgage buyback claims from investors. This work is often done in conjunction with industry analysts when appropriate in order to provide a broader perspective towards resolution of the claims while keeping the dispute in a business context rather than a litigation setting.
